On June 14th, ‘Het Klokhuis’ (a Dutch educational kids tv program), organized an event in science museum Nemo where children could ask scientists their questions. Together with Anne Marije Kaag, Mieke attended this event to answer all questions related to the brain. The questions ranged from brain development (‘how does the brain develop?’), to emotions (‘How does the brain know we are sad?’) and memory (‘Why can we remember so much, while our brain does not get bigger?’).

We answered questions from 16 very enthusiastic children (and parents). In addition to just talking we brought some brain models, but also some real rat brains so the attendees could get a more hands-on experience. It was a busy but very fun and exciting day. Hopefully we were able to inspire the researchers of the future about brain research.
